A Impact International Case Study
GBRMPA, the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority, wanted to improve community engagement and build a stronger culture of best practice across its work along the Great Barrier Reef coastline. To do this, it needed a clear framework for what partnership with the community meant in terms of behaviours, attitudes, tools, and processes. Impact International supported the initiative with a culture change and community engagement program.
Impact International used a three-step approach to **illuminate**, **develop**, and **implement** change, starting with an all-staff survey and followed by a senior management workshop and a communication strategy for ongoing culture change. The result was a common vision for community engagement, a more unified leadership team, and clearly defined behaviours, attitudes, tools, and processes to support everyday practice. While no numeric metrics were provided, Impact International helped GBRMPA move toward better decision-making, stronger voluntary compliance, and improved stewardship of the Reef.
