How Immense Is Helping London Re-imagine Roadworks Planning

Transport for London (TfL) partnered with Immense to tackle the disruption caused by around 30,000 annual roadworks across London. TfL needed a way to make roadworks more inclusive, safer, and smarter while reducing the huge congestion, delay, and operational impacts on the city’s transport network.

Immense created a digital replica of London’s road transport system, enriched with additional data on traveller and vehicle movements, so TfL could simulate planned roadworks and maintenance scenarios. The solution helps planners assess direct and indirect congestion and air quality impacts, improving communication with stakeholders and reducing costs and delays; London’s roadworks were previously linked to 3,000 hours of severe disruption and £2 billion in annual delays.
