A iMIS Case Study
The Texas Medical Association (TMA), founded in 1853 and now the largest state medical society in the U.S. with more than 47,000 physician and medical student members, faced operational limits from a home‑grown RPG database that only IT could access. That system forced IT to handle all queries and manual data entry, constrained data sharing, and left business processes inefficient — prompting a need for a web‑based solution to better support members and reduce IT workload.
TMA implemented iMIS as its central, web‑based membership and data repository, giving staff and partners direct access for reporting, data sharing, event management, membership retention/recruiting, fundraising, and continuing education tracking. As a result, members can renew, register, update profiles, and access CE certificates online, internal processes and reporting are more efficient, and manual data entry by IT has been eliminated — earning TMA recognition with an iMIS Great Things Award.
