The Board of Certification/Accreditation (BOC), a not-for-profit founded in 1984 that certifies practitioners and accredits facilities in orthotics, prosthetics and DME, relied on paper files and spreadsheets to manage six certification programs and multiple accreditation tracks. Facing growth, complex workflows and strict data security requirements, BOC needed an automated, integratable system with strong support to replace manual processes and better protect and analyze credentialing data.
BOC implemented iMIS as its central database to manage six certification programs and two accreditation programs, process applications and billing, track CEUs, and automate targeted communications. Integration with the website gave customers online access to certification records and an automatically updated public directory, while reporting and monitoring tools improved oversight of continuing competency and ethical claims. After more than 15 years with iMIS, BOC has streamlined operations, increased application throughput, automated payments and notifications, and strengthened data integrity.
