Case Study: Eventbrite delivers vivid imagery at scale with imgix

A imgix Case Study

Preview of the Eventbrite Case Study

How Eventbrite uses imgix to deliver vivid imagery to millions of event organizers and attendees in more than 180 different countries

Eventbrite, the world’s largest self-service ticketing platform, needed a better way to handle the millions of event images uploaded for pages viewed across more than 180 countries. Its in-house image-processing system was costly to maintain, required ongoing engineering effort, and made it difficult to introduce new image sizes without reprocessing huge volumes of images. Eventbrite turned to imgix for image processing and delivery.

With imgix, Eventbrite could resize and crop images on the fly while keeping originals in its existing Amazon S3 bucket, avoiding storage of massive numbers of derivative images. The result was simpler implementation, faster load times, and richer imagery across web and native experiences; Eventbrite said imgix saves at least 100 KB per image. Eventbrite also no longer needs to maintain its own image-processing infrastructure, freeing the engineering team to focus on core product work.
