Bank of Montreal Uses iManage to Support Work Product Management Across Legal, Corporate & Compliance Group

Bank of Montreal (BMO), one of Canada’s largest banks, needed a better way for its Legal, Corporate & Compliance Group (LCCG) to manage rapidly growing volumes of critical documents, paper records and sensitive investigation materials while improving search, retrieval and security. Although the legal team had used iManage for years, the group sought broader adoption and more efficient, secure handling of emails, contracts, reports and case files.

BMO standardized on iManage Work as a single, matter‑centric repository with Microsoft Office/Outlook integration, OCR scanning and case‑management links, enabling bulk email filing and digitization of paper records. Adoption grew from about 150 to over 500 users across Legal, Compliance and Investigative & Security Services, speeding attorney workflows, moving teams toward paperless operations (saving tons of paper), and providing granular security to protect ongoing investigations.
