BBC Media Action Transform Their Ability To Archive and Share Content

BBC Media Action, the BBC’s international development charity that produces 200+ hours of video annually and reaches some 200 million people, faced fragmented multimedia held in country silos across 19 sites. This limited content sharing, reuse and donor engagement and risked loss from human error or natural disasters. To solve this, BBC Media Action partnered with Reuters Imagen to deploy the Imagen online multimedia management platform (implemented in 2016) as a central cloud archive.

Reuters Imagen implemented a feature-rich, cloud-based media library with tagging, robust search, secure access controls and clip creation across offices in locations including India, Somalia, Kenya and Nigeria. The platform centralized 200+ hours of content, dramatically reduced search times that once took hours or days, protected assets from loss, improved global collaboration and made it far easier to repurpose and broadcast material — strengthening BBC Media Action’s ability to show work to donors and seize new distribution opportunities.
