The Breast Cancer Atlas Project is sequencing more than a million breast cancer cells with the NovaSeq 6000 System

The Garvan Institute of Medical Research aimed to create a comprehensive cellular atlas of breast cancer, a challenge that required performing cellular genomics studies on over a million individual tumor cells. To support this ambitious Breast Cancer Atlas Project, they required a high-throughput sequencing solution and partnered with Illumina.

Illumina's NovaSeq 6000 System was implemented to handle the project's massive scale, enabling rapid, high-quality single-cell RNA sequencing. This solution provided the efficiency and economies needed to sequence the extensive bioresource of samples. The project has commenced sequencing, and the resulting high-resolution cellular and molecular data, combined with clinical information, is a powerful resource for identifying new therapeutic targets and making more precise treatment decisions for breast cancer patients.
