Australia Genomics Center Scales its Services to Collaborate with Researchers Worldwide

The Deakin Genomics Centre at Deakin University sought to expand its sequencing capabilities beyond its initial MiSeq™ System to undertake larger, more ambitious projects. The challenge was finding a high-throughput next-generation sequencing (NGS) system that could scale for these larger projects and support diverse applications, as outsourcing was proving expensive and slow.

Illumina provided the NovaSeq 6000 System as a solution. This enabled the Centre to dramatically reduce sequencing costs, accelerate research, and grow its capacity, leading to an increase from a few projects to 90 ongoing ones with a goal of 200-300. The system also positioned the Centre as a genomics hub, attracting international collaborators and integrating NGS into its teaching program, significantly expanding its research impact.
