A&M University, Alabama boosts stadium lighting 50.9% with IKIO

A&M University in Alabama faced significant challenges with the outdated lighting system at its Louis Crews Stadium. The high-intensity discharge fixtures were consuming excessive power, causing frequent lamp failures that disrupted games and limited broadcast quality. The university required a state-of-the-art solution to meet NCAA standards and improve the experience for athletes and spectators, leading them to partner with vendor IKIO for a comprehensive stadium lighting upgrade.

IKIO implemented an end-to-end lighting retrofit using its OLM™ technology and DMX-compatible smart controls. The solution delivered uniform, broadcast-ready illumination and dynamic color features for fan experiences. This resulted in annual energy savings of over 493,000 kWh and cost savings exceeding $54,500. The project also achieved a 72% improvement in lighting quality, enhanced operational efficiency, and transformed the stadium into a future-ready venue.
