A Ignitec Case Study
The customer, X-IO Technologies, needed to develop a next-generation, waterproof, and shock-resistant wearable motion tracking device (the XIMU3) for use in sports performance and physical rehabilitation. They engaged the vendor, Ignitec, to overcome the challenge of designing a compact, IP67-rated product that could survive submersion and abuse.
Ignitec utilized their in-house multi-material 3D printing capabilities to rapidly design and iterate through prototypes that replicated the final product's performance. This approach allowed them to perfect complex features like integrated seals and light guides at a minimal cost, significantly reducing development costs and tooling risk for X-IO Technologies. Ignitec then introduced the client to a manufacturing partner and handed over a perfected design, which is now in production.
