Empowering remote troubleshooting and transformed IT costs for Hughes Federal Credit Union

Hughes Federal Credit Union, a Tucson-based financial institution with seven branches serving over 120,000 members, faced a time-consuming, manual process for biannual core-system upgrades and routine patches: IT staff had to drive to each branch, power on PCs, apply updates and power them down, with no reliable way to wake machines remotely. To solve this, Hughes turned to Ignite Technologies and its Verdiem wake-on-LAN and centralized PC management solution.

Ignite Technologies deployed Verdiem across Hughes’ PC fleet (pushed via Group Policy), enabling remote wake, scheduled updates and after-hours troubleshooting. The change eliminated branch visits, reduced the biannual upgrade effort from ten people working 4–6 hours to 1–2 hours (saving roughly 85–90 hours per year on that project), and delivered broader time savings reported at about 200 hours per year on another update activity. Verdiem also automates nightly shutdowns and morning wake-ups, lets IT wake PCs in emergencies, and enabled faster remote repairs and patch rollouts.
