Heifer International is a global nonprofit that works in more than 25 countries to end hunger and poverty by training farmers and promoting sustainable agriculture. With over 1,100 employees—about 800 of whom work remotely or internationally—the organization struggled with an aging intranet that had become a “content graveyard,” lacked system integration and translation, and failed to support inclusion, collaboration, and timely access to information.

Heifer replaced the old intranet with Igloo, launching a branded digital workplace called The Corral that combines social spaces, multilingual content, HR and leadership blogs, a Think Tank, event tools and polls, and integrated knowledge management. The platform boosted engagement—content viewers rose 11% and active contributors grew 5.8%—and helped restore real-time communication, employee connection, and readiness for future growth.
