A IGEL Case Study
WBCM, a mid‑Atlantic engineering firm with more than 40 years’ experience and over 200 employees, faced a looming workstation refresh, growing demand for unified communications (Skype for Business), and the need to deliver remote access to graphics‑intensive CAD files with dual‑monitor support inside their Citrix VDI environment. After piloting several options, their solution provider Plan B recommended IGEL, and WBCM evaluated IGEL UD6 thin clients along with IGEL OS and the IGEL Universal Management Suite.
IGEL deployed UD6 thin clients managed by IGEL UMS and integrated with Citrix and NVIDIA GPUs plus Skype for Business optimizations; the pilot was up and running in hours and scaled to about 200 UD6 devices across four offices. As a result, WBCM reports no workstation purchases in four years, virtually no endpoint failures, dramatically reduced support time and costs (they pay a fraction of prior expenses), and what they describe as a “tremendous” ROI.
