A IGEL Case Study
University of Lethbridge – Dhillon School of Business was facing aging, unsupported Windows XP Embedded endpoints in its 55-seat academic trading centre, creating security and manageability risks. The school selected IGEL, deploying IGEL OS, IGEL Universal Management Suite (UMS) and IGEL UD Pocket alongside Citrix Virtual Apps to modernize and secure its endpoint environment.
IGEL’s software-defined endpoints and central UMS console provided a locked-down, Windows-like desktop experience, simplified management (one-console customizations for events), and extended the life of existing hardware (targeting nine-plus years), delivering long-term cost savings. The IGEL UD Pocket enables secure booting and multi-monitor support and, used with Citrix Virtual Apps, enforces exam lockdowns (no internet or network sharing), improving security and reducing IT overhead while enabling plans to expand IGEL across campuses.
