Somerset Care - Customer Case Study

Somerset Care, a not‑for‑profit operating 30 care homes and 19 administrative offices across southern England, faced a mixed, ageing thin‑client estate that was costly and time‑consuming to manage and lacked remote shadowing or central control. To replace end‑of‑life devices and reduce support overhead they turned to IGEL for a secure, cost‑effective desktop solution.

IGEL supplied Universal Desktop 2 (UD2) and IGEL Zero 2 (IZ2) thin clients managed with the IGEL Universal Management Suite (UMS) and integrated with Citrix XenApp 6.5. The IGEL rollout—now up to 650 devices—delivered centralized, policy‑based management, remote shadowing, faster device replacement and reduced onsite visits, lowering management time and costs; extended warranties (up to five years) and UMS scalability further simplified administration for Somerset Care.
