Randolph-Brooks Federal Credit Union - Customer Case Study

Randolph-Brooks Federal Credit Union, a Texas-based financial cooperative with more than 55 branches and roughly 1,800 employees, needed a more powerful, manageable endpoint solution to deliver e-mail and core financial applications over its Citrix infrastructure. After evaluating options, Randolph-Brooks selected IGEL and deployed IGEL Universal Desktop thin clients (UD3 and later UD5) along with the IGEL Universal Management Suite (UMS) to replace failing legacy endpoints and support Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop workloads.

IGEL implemented an initial roll-out of about 300 UD3 devices—since more than quadrupled—and migrated primary deployments to UD5 for greater performance and USB connectivity. Using IGEL and UMS delivered faster boot times, improved end-user performance, simplified centralized management, and far fewer endpoint issues; IGEL also worked with the credit union to enable WAN sharing of Topaz signature pads via a custom FabulaTech image. The result: a better user experience, easier IT administration, responsive vendor support, and plans to expand IGEL use (including the IGEL Universal Desktop Converter) during an upcoming Windows 10 migration.
