NSB Group, a Nordic transportation company with around 15,000 employees, needed a more stable, secure and easily administered endpoint solution for its Citrix XenApp 6.5 environment to replace a mixed estate of PCs and older thin clients. After a technical demonstration and positive user feedback, NSB Group selected IGEL—notably the IGEL UD-5 Linux/IGEL UD5 LX thin clients—primarily for IGEL’s superior management tools and shorter delivery times.

IGEL was rolled out in a six-month pilot and subsequent organization-wide deployment led by NSB Fellestjenester IT, using preconfigured UD-5 devices for rapid, plug-and-play installs. The IGEL solution delivered a stable, low‑maintenance environment with major, distinct savings and lower operating costs, strong positive feedback from users and administrators, and faster deployments (devices arriving pre-configured and ready to use); IGEL’s management capabilities were cited as a key factor in these measurable benefits.
