Lincoln College Group - Customer Case Study

Lincoln College Group, one of the region’s largest education, training and apprenticeship providers with around 9,000 students and roughly 4,000 desktop PCs across multiple UK and Saudi sites, was struggling with ageing Windows PCs and library laptops, rising security and update overheads, and a small IT team of five. To solve this, the college turned to IGEL and its stack of solutions—IGEL UD3 thin clients, Universal Desktop Conversion 3 (UDC3) software and the IGEL Universal Management Suite (UMS)—to simplify and secure student computing.

Using IGEL’s UDC3 to repurpose old PCs and laptops, deploying IGEL UD3 devices and managing everything centrally via IGEL UMS, the college cut management time and costs, reduced hardware and energy spend, and eliminated long boot/update delays (library laptops that once took up to 30 minutes now boot in seconds). The IGEL deployment delivered zero‑touch updates, a smooth roll‑out with no post‑launch issues, happier staff and students, and freed IT staff to work more proactively.
