Kantonale Psychiatrische Dienste St. Gallen Sektor Nord is a regional psychiatric group with 750 staff across four sites, treating around 5,000–5,500 patients annually. Facing growing multimedia demands (video playback and digital dictation) and the need to simplify management of 950 IT workstations—770 of which use thin clients—the organization turned to IGEL thin clients and related software to modernize its client environment.

IGEL supplied a range of thin and zero clients (including multimedia‑capable UD and IZ models) plus the IGEL Universal Management Suite, deployed on a Citrix XenApp/VMware private cloud; digital dictation (SpeaKING Dictat) was also tested successfully with IGEL Universal Desktops. The deployment improved streaming and local playback via Citrix HDX, ensured compatibility with dictation hardware, enabled profile‑based remote management with 12‑minute device rollouts, and now remotely manages 770 of 950 end devices (>80%), reducing admin effort, on‑site support and travel; IGEL cites potential savings of up to 10% for dictation and up to 70% in workstation TCO.
