A IGEL Case Study
Hypo Alpe-Adria-Bank, one of the six largest banks in Croatia with over 1,000 employees, needed to migrate off unsupported Windows XP while moving from distributed to centralized desktop management, reducing management time and improving security. To meet this challenge the bank selected IGEL, deploying IGEL UD3 LX thin clients, IGEL’s Universal Desktop Converter 2 (UDC2) software and the IGEL Universal Management Suite alongside Citrix XenApp virtualization.
IGEL converted 1,100 existing PCs using UDC2 and deployed 40 IGEL UD3 LX devices, bringing roughly 75% of staff onto IGEL-managed desktops and integrating with VMware vSphere and Citrix XenApp; all endpoints are centrally controlled with the IGEL Universal Management Suite. The implementation avoided major hardware and software replacements, delivered faster user desktops, reduced IT support and management time, and saved the bank an estimated €400,000 — measurable benefits attributed to IGEL’s thin‑client software and management platform.
