A IGEL Case Study
Hillcrest Housing Association, one of Scotland’s largest social housing providers with over 6,000 properties and roughly 800 staff across 50 sites, needed to replace ageing thin-client desktops with a solution that supported dual screens, multimedia and simple centralized management. Working with IGEL, Hillcrest chose IGEL IZ series zero clients and the IGEL Universal Management Suite alongside a Citrix XenServer/XenApp VDI environment to meet those requirements.
IGEL deployed IZ zero clients and UMS (integrated with Hillcrest’s Citrix farm), with more than 200 IGEL terminals already installed and the rollout underway. The IGEL solution delivered dual‑screen and multimedia capability across the MPLS network, centralized configuration and remote firmware updates in minutes, and a shadowing function that resolves about 80–90% of routine issues—reducing travel for training and cutting operational time for IT staff.
