First Tech Credit Union, a Dublin‑headquartered ICT‑sector credit union serving 14,391 members, faced rising compliance and security demands, limited IT administration resources, and the need to migrate away from PCs and Windows 7 to a more secure, cost‑effective desktop platform. To modernize its desktop estate and support cloud services and its core Progress Banking system, First Tech selected IGEL solutions — deploying IGEL UD3 thin clients running IGEL OS and managed with IGEL UMS alongside Microsoft Remote Desktop Services (RDS) 2016.

IGEL’s UD3 endpoints, IGEL OS and UMS delivered a centralized, software‑defined endpoint environment that hardened security (read‑only Linux OS), simplified provisioning and management, and reduced helpdesk overhead so the MSP partner could support the setup.
