A IGEL Case Study
Diversicare, a Brentwood, Tenn.–based post-acute care provider with 76 facilities across 10 states, faced razor‑thin margins, disparate EMR systems, the need to integrate newly acquired centers, aging hardware and rising endpoint management costs. To avoid costly hardware refreshes and simplify a companywide move to Citrix VDI, Diversicare chose IGEL and its software-driven thin client stack—IGEL OS, IGEL Universal Management Suite (UMS) and the IGEL UD Pocket—to standardize and repurpose existing devices.
IGEL implemented a turnkey IGEL OS environment that converted legacy machines into manageable thin clients and integrated with Citrix, creating a single homogeneous desktop landscape. The deployment averaged under 30 minutes per center, was largely transparent to users, and delivered an estimated $635,000 in first‑year net savings by eliminating new hardware purchases and cutting third‑party licensing and management costs, while improving endpoint security and scalability.
