Davos Klosters Mountains - Customer Case Study

Davos Klosters Mountains, the operator of mountain railways and hotels in the Davos Klosters region, faced rising IT management, support and licensing costs for about 140 permanent workstations plus seasonal users, long PC boot times and a heavy operational burden on a three-person IT team. To standardize endpoints and reduce that load they evaluated thin clients and chose IGEL, deploying IGEL UD5 LX devices and the IGEL Universal Management Suite alongside their Citrix XenApp/VMware vSphere environment.

IGEL’s thin clients and UMS provided profile-based, centralized management, faster boot times (seconds versus up to seven minutes), rapid device replacement (≈10 minutes) and a predictable roll-out (hotel conversion in ~2 weeks), plus a 5-year warranty and expected device life up to 10 years. As a result, Davos Klosters Mountains lowered client management and support overhead, improved availability and freed the IT team to focus on strategic tasks while planning wider standardization with IGEL.
