A IGEL Case Study
Crisis, the UK national charity for single homeless people running Crisis at Christmas, needed to rapidly deploy and later decommission secure, remotely managed desktops across nine temporary sites to support around 4,700 guests during the nine-day festive period. To meet tight setup windows and reduce management overhead, the Aimar Foundation provided an IT package that included IGEL endpoints—specifically IGEL UD3 thin clients—and the IGEL Universal Management Suite (UMS).
Aimar deployed a hosted Citrix XenApp desktop accessed via roughly 320 IGEL UD3 devices centrally managed with IGEL UMS, enabling fast installation and secure remote administration by a small core team and volunteers. IGEL’s solution delivered multimedia-optimized access to Office, web browsing, VoIP and seven-language support, helping Crisis speed setup and decommissioning, save management time, and give guests the online access needed to contact family and work on CVs while serving thousands during the event.
