China UnionPay - Customer Case Study

China UnionPay Data Services Ltd., a leading provider of financial card‑issuance and data processing services, faced rising security risks, the need for centralized system management with limited IT staff, and a planned move to a virtualized IT environment. To address these challenges the company chose IGEL and its Thin Client UD2‑LX together with the IGEL Universal Management Suite (UMS) to replace traditional PCs and centralize endpoint management.

IGEL deployed more than 70 thin clients and UMS, storing encrypted data centrally, using read‑only Linux firmware and VPN support to harden security, and enabling rapid recovery of terminals in just minutes. The IGEL solution simplified updates and centralized administration, materially reduced IT administration effort and costs, improved endpoint stability and ROI, and delivered measurable security and management benefits that China UnionPay plans to expand across other departments.
