A IGEL Case Study
Centers for Dialysis Care (CDC), the largest independent outpatient dialysis provider in Northeast Ohio with over 500 employees across 20 facilities, faced a critical IT challenge when its thin client vendor was acquired and its devices were discontinued. Seeking a reliable, easy-to-manage desktop replacement that worked with their Citrix environment, CDC evaluated alternatives and selected IGEL, adopting IGEL Universal Desktop UD3 and UD5 thin clients alongside the IGEL Universal Management Suite (UMS).
IGEL deployed ~200 UD3/UD5 devices (and licensed non‑IGEL devices with IGEL UDC2 software) and integrated them with Citrix XenApp 6.5 and a VDI rollout, using UMS for pre-configuration and remote updates. The IGEL solution cut management time, reduced field engineering visits, enabled wireless and battery-powered deployments, and delivered measurable reliability — under 1% device failure rate — driving clear time and cost savings for CDC.
