The Assay Office of the Czech Republic, responsible for hallmarking and precious metal testing across 10 offices and 88 employees, needed to refresh ageing thin desktops, reduce costs and cut administration time while retaining COM‑port support for barcode scanners and scales. After testing multiple vendors, the Assay Office chose IGEL and its UD3 (LX) thin clients to modernize its desktop estate.

IGEL supplied and deployed 62 UD3 thin clients and enabled central management via the IGEL Universal Management Suite (UMS), integrating with the customer’s VMware and Citrix XenApp environment. The IGEL solution eliminated on‑site adjustments, drastically reduced IT administration and support, improved desktop reliability and performance, and lowered energy costs—delivering a fast return on investment for the Assay Office.
