Arcadia Group - Customer Case Study

Arcadia Group, the UK’s largest privately‑owned clothing retailer with some 2,500 outlets and brands including Topshop, needed a more cost‑effective, centrally managed and highly flexible desktop solution to keep pace with fast‑moving retail demands. After evaluating vendors, Arcadia Group selected IGEL and chose IGEL Linux and Windows Embedded Universal Desktops along with the IGEL Universal Management Suite (UMS) to replace a mixed environment of thin clients, PCs and laptops.

IGEL supplied a mix of UD9 and UD3 thin clients and the UMS, integrated into Arcadia’s Citrix‑based environment, and deployed more than 2,500 IGEL devices across roughly 3,300 desktops in head office, regional offices, distribution centres and stores (including the New York Topshop). The IGEL solution delivered rapid centralized provisioning and firmware management (including “buddy” updates), drastically reduced IT management time, minimized hardware issues, enabled quick roll‑outs of new services, and supports planned migrations such as an 800‑user BHS desktop move.
