A IFS Case Study
Østfold Energi is a Norwegian renewable-energy company that owns 10 hydroelectric plants and six district heating plants, supplying about 2% of Norway’s renewable power. With each hydro station split into 400–600 monitored objects (4,000+ hydropower objects and 1,600+ heating objects total), the company needed real-time visibility and better preventive maintenance to minimize unplanned downtime (target 0.5%), digitize operations and avoid costly bespoke IT customizations.
Østfold Energi upgraded to the latest IFS platform, using IFS Lobby and the Aurena interface to run calendar-based preventive maintenance, mobile work orders and integrated BI/Power BI reporting from a single system. The upgrade cut essential customizations from 18 to 2, improved reporting and usability, enabled technicians to work on-site from tablets, and helped deliver near‑zero unplanned downtime along with operational and OPEX savings.
