A IFS Case Study
NATO Flying Training in Canada (NFTC) is a multinational military pilot training program operating a fleet of CT-156 Harvard II and CT-155 Hawk aircraft. Faced with strict aircraft availability targets—requiring Harvard turn-around times of 12 minutes or less—NFTC sought a maintenance system that would support electronic flight authorization, wireless point-of-maintenance access, and reliable, paperless record-keeping.
NFTC implemented IFS Maintenix with wireless access, smart cards and e-signatures to enable task assignment and sign-off at the flight line and integrated it with local tracking systems. After a six‑month rollout, Maintenix cut Harvard turn-arounds to under 12 minutes (Hawks under 25), enabled up to five Harvard flights per day, improved data quality and safety investigations, and delivered a more efficient, paperless maintenance process praised by NFTC leadership.
