A IFS Case Study
Ethiopian Airlines, Africa’s fastest-growing carrier with an ambitious Vision 2025 to become the continent’s leading aviation group, needed to modernize its maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) capabilities to support a mixed and expanding fleet (including the 787 and Q400). Its legacy Maxi‑Merlin system and non-standard processes were unable to meet the demands of fleet renewal, operational efficiency and a growing third‑party MRO business.
Ethiopian implemented IFS Maintenix across engineering, planning, execution, materials and technical records using a phased data migration, standardized processes and broad organizational buy‑in. The rollout was completed across the entire fleet and shops (including the Boeing 787), delivering real‑time visibility, faster decision‑making, reduced time-to-service (24 hours from receipt to revenue routes for the 787), improved maintenance efficiency and a stronger platform for future growth and third‑party MRO revenue.
