A IFS Case Study
Distributie Oltenia, an electric distribution utility in Romania serving over 1.4 million meters across seven counties, launched a SMART Transformation Program to improve distribution safety, cut energy losses, and lower maintenance and repair costs. Prior to the program, work-order creation and scheduling were paper-based, field crews received weekly orders, and the utility struggled to respond to urgent outages or optimize field operations.
To automate field work, Distributie Oltenia selected a consortium led by Clevest (with Deloitte Czech Republic and Deloitte Romania) to implement a GIS-enabled Mobile Workforce Management solution integrated with SAP and future MDM via an ESB. The deployment—using Clevest WorkSpace, WorkBook, Enterprise Scheduling and Genesis on PostgreSQL for 440 technicians and 190 dispatchers—has automated scheduling and assignment, improved responsiveness and safety, and enabled more efficient smart meter rollouts and day-to-day field operations, reducing costs and improving customer service.
