A IFS Case Study
SDIC Qinzhou Electric Power, the largest thermal power plant in Guangxi established in 2004, faced fragmented, costly and outdated systems that left data dispersed and operations reactive. Manual, paper-based processes and independent IT systems meant poor real-time visibility, frequent over-ordering of coal and spare parts, occasional unplanned shutdowns and high back-end labor costs that constrained productivity and decision-making.
By implementing IFS (including Enterprise Asset Management and Enterprise Operational Intelligence plus Financials, HR and Project Management), Qinzhou centralized operations, gained a 360° view of vendors and assets, improved demand forecasting, and introduced predictive maintenance and automated workflows. The result: about 20% lower operational costs, 15% reduced maintenance costs, 10% lower management costs, a 33% cut in inventory cost and 30% better inventory turnover, reduced downtime, improved decision-making—and successful commissioning of two additional generating units.
