A IFS Case Study
Derome is Sweden’s largest family‑owned wood industry, founded in 1946, with about 3,000 employees and a portfolio spanning sawmills, prefabrication, a 50‑branch merchant network and property management across 145 sites in Sweden, Norway and the UK. Rapid growth (from 1,300 to over 3,000 employees) left the business running multiple legacy systems (including IBS on AS400 and an ageing trade retail system), limiting visibility, planning and the ability to manage customer relationships centrally.
In 2020 Derome implemented IFS ERP, rolling out HR first and then sawmill and store operations to nearly 2,200 users within months, unifying customer records and company‑wide BI reporting. The result is a single customer view, more accurate demand forecasting and production planning (important as 40% of sawmill output is sold in its own stores), a web shop and mobile access for staff, standardized purchasing and invoicing, and roughly 200 dashboards—significantly improving operational visibility and customer service.
