A IFS Case Study
FortisBC, a Fortis Inc. subsidiary serving 1.2 million customers across 135 BC communities with 2,300 employees, sought to extend the benefits of its advanced metering (AMI) investment while improving crew dispatch, maintenance and safety in challenging, intermittently connected terrain. The utility needed a single, consolidated mobile platform to support routine and emergency work, ensure field crews had timely access to maps and work history, and harmonize systems across its electric and gas divisions.
FortisBC deployed Clevest Mobile Workforce Management — including mobile service orders, outage management, WorkSpace/WorkBook apps, scheduling, routing and integration with SAP, Survalent, Esri/GE Smallworld — with offline map access and real-time office-field communication. The solution streamlined processes, consolidated IT systems, improved outage response and worker safety, increased field productivity and customer satisfaction, and delivered measurable cost and efficiency gains across both utilities.
