Cloud-based MRO strategy reduces costs and grounding times for Copa Airlines

Copa Airlines of Panama faced inefficient maintenance operations after inheriting separate MRO systems for its Boeing and Embraer fleets, limiting control over the Aircraft Maintenance Program and hindering capacity across about 100 aircraft. To meet ambitious cost‑cutting and aircraft‑availability goals, the airline needed a single, scalable solution to reduce process complexity and ground time.

Copa selected IFS Maintenix and deployed it in the cloud, consolidating maintenance management and integrating with SAP and AIMS to eliminate repetitive manual tasks. Rolled out by October 2017 to 100 aircraft and over 1,300 users, the new system cut engineering modification times from months to days and increased available flying time, improving competitiveness and operational efficiency.
