BWSC standardizes its ERP system in pursuit of digitalization

Burmeister & Wain Scandinavian Contractor (BWSC) is a global turnkey developer and contractor of medium to large-scale power plants. Rapid growth—sales nearly tripled, headcount doubled and annual projects rose from about 2 to 10—left the company with an IFS ERP full of incremental customizations that had become inflexible and was hindering further digitalization and process optimization.

In a five-month program BWSC moved to a 100% standardized IFS construction-centric ERP, removing customizations and standardizing project and procurement modules. The upgrade digitalized workflows from order to payment, improved integration with document, CAD/CAM and material systems, and paved the way for supplier and subcontractor digitization; the result was faster, higher-quality project delivery, greater customer satisfaction and renewed flexibility to adopt future IFS functionality.
