AOA Apparatebau Gauting's operations lift with IFS

AOA Apparatebau Gauting GmbH is a medium-sized aerospace systems manufacturer (340 employees, sites in Gauting and Dresden, service centers in the USA and Asia) that designs, produces and services mechanical and electronic systems for aircraft and rail customers such as Airbus and Boeing. Because all development, manufacturing and long‑lifecycle service work is done in‑house, AOA needed a single, integrated ERP to unify information across locations and handle complex service management; after a five‑month evaluation the company selected IFS for its functional coverage, flexibility and aviation experience.

IFS was rolled out progressively (finance and HR first, then sales, manufacturing, purchasing and service management across locations by end of 2007), with 50 key users trained and now more than 200 users working on the system. The solution provides company‑wide process control and lifecycle‑capable service management, improved data access and reporting, streamlined decision making, and has enabled AOA to manage personnel, sales and budget planning centrally—boosting operational agility and competitiveness.
