A IFS Case Study
Amphenol Alden Products Co., a family-owned maker of engineering connectors and cable assemblies since 1929, was hampered by an aging VAX/DIBOL system and poorly integrated applications. The company struggled with limited MRP capabilities, frequent negative on‑hand balances, slow reporting and data searches, and inefficient compliance with FDA design‑control requirements — all of which constrained production planning, reporting and customer service.
In 2000 Amphenol Alden implemented IFS across manufacturing, financials, configure‑to‑order, engineering change and other modules, re‑engineered its chart of accounts, and deployed a web‑based dashboard. The result was immediate: 30% lower inventory, increased throughput and reduced order backlog, faster quoting (often under one day), lower operating expenses, more accurate real‑time data, improved customer service and true multisite capability to support future growth.
