Sanlam Investments invests in IDU

Sanlam Investments, a major South African investment manager, struggled with a slow, error-prone budgeting process in which each cost centre submitted separate Excel files that financial manager Gino Schoeman had to retype or copy into a master spreadsheet, making consolidated views unavailable except after manual updates. To solve this, Sanlam chose IDU and in July 2014 began using the IDU Financial Budgeting Module (idu-Concept).

IDU implemented idu-Concept as a multiuser, interactive budgeting platform that delivers real-time consolidated budgets and actuals; the rollout ran smoothly and on schedule. The result was substantial time savings, elimination of Excel formula/link errors, instant consolidated views at any stage of the cycle, improved cost‑centre reporting and, according to IDU, a reduction in budgeting cycles from months to weeks—significantly enhancing Sanlam’s financial reporting and decision-making.
