Cape Union Mart, South Africa’s largest family-run outdoor retail group with over 300 stores, faced a major overhaul of its financial and POS systems in 2011. Budgeting was done in Excel, which was time-consuming, error-prone and suffered from poor version control. After evaluating options, Cape Union Mart selected idu-Concept from IDU—deploying the Budgeting, Reporting & Analytics modules—to create a single, real-time “version of the truth.”

IDU implemented idu-Concept to centralize budgeting, reporting and analytics, enabling users from finance directors to department heads to work from accurate, real-time data. The solution smoothed annual budget loading, automated intercompany reallocations, eased ERP migration by mapping old and new charts of accounts, and provided drill-down reporting and Excel integration. As a result, budgeting and monthly reporting became faster, more accurate and easier to consolidate—reducing budgeting cycles from months to weeks and eliminating multiple-version and consolidation delays.
