Southend-on-Sea City Council’s SEND team supports around 1,500 EHC plans and a growing number of new assessment requests, but its existing case management system was too limited to manage the full EHC process effectively. The council needed a broader, more collaborative approach that would allow families, schools, and health and social care professionals to contribute more easily to assessments and plans.

Idox implemented its EHC Hub digital portal to improve transparency, automate repetitive administrative tasks, and enable direct input from stakeholders into draft EHC plans. The solution reduced administration time, improved productivity, and gave parents and schools online access to records, issued documents, and uploaded advice for the first time, significantly enhancing the council’s ways of working.
