Lancaster City Council Transforms its planning and building control processes with Uniform Cloud

Lancaster City Council worked with Idox to modernize its planning and building control operations. The council wanted to move away from paper-based case management and adopt a unified digital system that could support online applications, reviews, approvals, and future planning demands across areas such as enforcement, development control, and appeals. Idox’s Uniform software was already familiar to the council, but it needed a more modern, scalable approach.

Idox implemented Uniform Cloud, the hosted version of its case management software, and migrated the council over a 12-month period. The move delivered automatic updates, improved security, unlimited storage, and major cost savings by removing the need for on-premise hardware, licensing, and consultancy. Lancaster City Council also streamlined workflows, reduced manual printing and administration, enabled virtual meetings and remote working, and maintained uninterrupted service during lockdown.
