Charnwood Borough Council Using Unique Property Reference Numbers to drive management efficiency of council-owned property

Charnwood Borough Council needed a better way to manage its council-owned properties across multiple systems, including housing and customer contact centre data. Working with Idox and its Aligned Assets LLPG gazetteer and address matching solution, the council aimed to use Unique Property Reference Numbers (UPRNs) and geo-coordinates to create a single, accurate view of each dwelling, garage and shop.

Idox helped Charnwood link property records to the LLPG, auto-populate UPRNs in the housing database, and build daily refreshed GIS views combining housing and address data. This gave housing officers and customer service teams a visual, easy-to-interrogate view of stock, improving route planning, speeding up property lookups, and supporting better handling of arrears, maintenance, complaints and other enquiries.
