Commerzbank, a leading international commercial bank, faced a digital onboarding challenge as it shifted from a branch-based model to a multichannel service: prospects needed fast, AML-compliant identity and signature verification across mobile and web channels. After shortlisting providers, Commerzbank chose IDnow to address shortcomings of in-branch and PostIdent processes and to meet mobile-first customer expectations.

IDnow delivered a smartphone app and live video ID verification integrated into Commerzbank’s online account flow, implemented within weeks from December 2014 and expanded to additional products thereafter. IDnow’s solution enabled real-time, paperless account opening (from April 2016), with up to 20% early adoption and today 30% of prospects verifying via IDnow for immediate STP; overall conversion rose by almost 50% and “unverified” applications fell by more than 20%.
