Tampa Bay Rays Optimize Tribute to Military Community

The Tampa Bay Rays wanted to expand their military ticket program beyond a limited in-stadium discount but faced challenges presenting and validating an online offer while preventing repeat use. They partnered with ID.me and used ID.me’s Troop ID real-time verification service to authenticate active-duty, retired, and honorably discharged military members for the new “Rays Honor Pass.”

ID.me integrated Troop ID on two landing pages (MLB.com and a hosted page) so veterans completed a verification flow to receive access codes for free tickets; ID.me’s system prevented repeat claims and handled sensitive data securely. The program drove 5,000 Honor Pass applications in the first 48 hours, produced more than 1,500 free tickets redeemed per game (nearly 50,000 total), and boosted the Rays’ military footprint and brand reputation, earning local government recognition.
