Premier Foods, the UK’s largest food producer with 36 UK & Ireland sites and around 15,000 employees, needed a consistent, company-wide way to measure and drive manufacturing performance after major acquisitions and a new divisional strategy. The challenge was to standardize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), embed continuous improvement and people engagement across divisions, and reduce controllable manufacturing costs while improving quality and sustainability.

Premier rolled out the Idhammar OEE System and the “Premier ATTACK” improvement toolkit across all sites, using a single database, training and an Improvement Agenda to baseline performance, prioritize losses and track progress. The initiative delivered measurable gains — capacity release, higher labour productivity, waste and energy reductions, and lower cost per unit — plus new labour-effectiveness reporting (OLE), sustainable improvements and a stronger competitive position through a long-term partnership with Idhammar.
