Making light work of tractor production

Case New Holland (CNH) Industrial’s Basildon plant — the UK’s only volume tractor manufacturer and a major exporter — needed a better way to identify and react to production losses. The site was already running at 97–98% efficiency but relied on end-of-day spreadsheets and lacked real-time capture of micro-stoppages (under five minutes) and clear, equipment-specific downtime reasons, limiting its ability to quickly resolve recurring issues.

Idhammar’s OEE system delivered automated stop/start and product-count capture, real-time dashboards and Andon displays, and simple touch-screen input for stoppage reasons, supported by training and remote help-desk assistance. The result was clearer root-cause data, faster supplier feedback on faulty parts, production gains of one extra tractor per day (each worth £90–£140k), team-leader time savings of up to 30 minutes daily, and plans to roll the solution out to additional lines.
